Probate Administration Types in Florida
There are two primary types of actual probate administration in Florida:
- Summary Administration: An option for smaller estates. To qualify, either the decedent must be deceased for more than two years, or the total value of the probate estate (excluding exempt property) must not exceed $75,000.
- Formal Administration: Starts with a petition to open the estate and the appointment of a personal representative to administer the estate properly.
